Highland Park has won six consecutive state championships and 10 state titles in the last 11 years in team tennis. But last year’s Class 4A state champion has moved up to 6A (the old 5A), and its bracket at this week’s state tournament in College Station will include three teams that made state in 5A last year.

In Wednesday’s semifinal, Highland Park (20-0) will face undefeated Houston Memorial (20-0), the 5A state runner-up last season. Wednesday’s other 6A semifinal will match 2013 5A state champion New Braunfels (23-0) against Plano West (25-1), the team it beat in last year’s state semifinal.

Plano West is at state for the 13th time in 15 years. Its only loss this season was 12-7 to

Highland Park. McKinney North (22-2) will play Grapevine (16-5) in a 5A semifinal Wednesday. McKinney North is making its first state tournament appearance, and Grapevine is at state for only the second time (1986 was the other).
